“Oh for the sharding love of Faranth, GO AWAY!”
Brown eyes, normally soft and friendly and only tinged with pale gold, were a blazing amber as they glared with impotent fury. A growl issued from the throat of the woman, and said amber eyes glinted with satisfaction when her quarry flinched under her anger. Yes, perhaps they didn’t deserve her anger; they were just trying to help.
She didn’t NEED held though. For the love of Faranth, she was pregnant, NOT an invalid. She was perfectly capable of fending for herself and knew her own sharding limits. So she could sharding well manage to haul a few stupid fire stone sacks to their place, right? It wasn’t as if she was bet weening, or anything, but Kurenai was certain that if she wasn’t allowed to indulge in some physical activity soon, she’d scream and go insane. She was like a coiled feline as it was, most of the time, and that was when she had outlets to release her energy. Energy that, as of late, had been increasingly sporadic.
Stupid pregnancy had to do that, didn’t it? And of course, with the repressed energy came the mood swings. One of which was currently directed at her wing mates. Yes, they were only worried for her, but shard it all, she wasn’t going to break! It was their own fault for coddling her when they knew she’d hate it.
Another growl issued from her throat, though this one was more brought on by the severe frustration she was feeling at the lack of support from her dragon. Yuhith had confused her immensely this morning when she had only blooded and literally just snacked on her kill, after going to all the trouble to demand her rider get out of bed so she could eat. And then the Autumn had proceeded to fall asleep on the Star Stones. It was late afternoon now, and she still hadn’t woken up. Frankly, it unsettled her already restless rider.
The growl had even caused one of the blue riders to step back, and with a sniff of satisfaction, Kurenai snarled,
“I am ONLY two and a half months along. Hardly debilitating. Now leave me alone. All of you…and I swear by Yuhith’s egg that if you follow me P’sin I’ll threaten your fatherhood prospects again. And this time, I’ll make SURE they’re ruined.”
With that rather nasty remark the moody Autumn rider turned on her heel, ignoring the hormone and stress induced headache coming on as she stalked across the Bowl, changed direction and stalked back across again to settle on the far side of the Lake, where she proceeded to scrub half heartedly at her flushed and sweaty face, snarling in an almost feral manner as she did so. Finally, she slumped against her knees, shooting a wary glare at her slightly stirring dragon before closing her eyes and letting herself daydream. The soft growling abated and after a while, contentment began to seep in, which relieved her to no end. Hopefully, she’d be able to hold her temper now; she had a horrible feeling even A’sum might have copped a snarl or two if he’d come near her in her prior mood. Which spoke volumes of her frustration, considering she had all the patience in the world for the bronze rider and his quirks most days.
Needless to say, the relaxation didn’t last long. She was half dozing when she was suddenly startled by a bugle, and was surprised to see Weicith, who had been curled up beside Yuhith, rising to her feet and all but scrambling off the Star Stones. Kurenai blinked several times, frowning at the green before directing her ire towards her normally chirpy Autumn.
That was greeted with a snarl that made the woman jump to her feet, and her eyes widened even as her lips thinned, before her mouth dropped open and she all but yelped at the very un-Yuhith like feelings radiating to her from her beloved dragon. In her bleariness, it took Kurenai a moment or two to comprehend the situation. Eyes widening again as she watched, almost dazed, at her sweet little Autumn’s actions.
Yuhith’s eyes had opened ever so slightly, and it took all of a second for Kurenai to see the dangerous red whirling within the slit. A shiver passed through her frame as she watched the Autumn rise slowly to her feet. Her amber laced hide was all but luminous, and only a blind man would miss the blinding glow, the unmistakable sensuality in those seemingly lazy movements as Yuhith rose to her feet, stretching her legs, extending her delicate wings in such a way so that every lithe muscle of her body rippled as she stretched again in a deceptively innocent display to any and all interested males.
How…how could she…how could she have missed this? How!?
Kurenai was no longer dazed, but as tense as her Yuhith, watching her Autumn’s movements with a speechless fascination and the slightest clenching of uncertainty. She shivered at the lust that was weaving a spell through her mind, licking her lips unconsciously as she breathed a single name.
“Yuhith…”
And with that one word, Yuhith arched her neck, throwing her head back to voice that stunningly throaty warble of a lusty female dragon. Wings swept down and up, and with an effortless leap, the Autumn dragon was in the air, gaining height, her wings slicing through the sea breeze as she rose above the Weyr, above the sea.
Come and play with me! But you’ll never catch up to meeee!
Let them dance with her, and she would see who was worth the waltz.
